Restoration........I wonder

The Wasp
A part of it's nest fell off. I picked it up and felt it. It felt like a piece of paper. Amazingly it had various shades of beige and gray throughout it. I looked up and studied the rest of the nest. I watched them vigorously working on their home, trying to get it finished before winter. There were many different openings.

Someone torched the nest. They left very little left in the tree. Wasps and larvae lay on the ground. Some of them fled, flying feverishly, wondering what happened to a home they worked so hard to build.

I couldn't believe what I saw.

When I returned later that day, I was amazed to see that the remaining wasps had begun to rebuild this nest.

I wonder....
Do you think this devastation has hurt them? Do you think they felt the same as the people in the Tsunami or Katrina?
Sometimes I wonder why people have to be so cruel to another living thing, no matter what it is.

Another day

The sun......another day nearly finished.
My daughter and I went for a walk along the beach, climbed the rocks then sat down and watched until the sun was a mere sliver of crimson on the horizon.

I look at this picture now and recapture the day's events, knowing it was a good day, enjoying the peace and serenity of that moment.

I love you honey
I love you mommy
Good night & sweet dreams

Imagine....

Go on......imagine this beautiful landscape.
Imagine flood lights and video cameras on a post and in the tree.
Close your eyes and invision the scenery before you; take a snapshot & keep it in your mind as you will no longer ever view this again.

Cedar stained planks now cut across this landscape; A cedar stained fence that is well guarded and protected by the home owner. Imagine patrolling this wood structure all hours of the day & night so no one touches this precious monument.

Imagine that!

Changes I have seen

I have seen 45 Winters, 45 Springs, 45 Summers and 45 Autumns, now going on 46 Autumns. It seems like much more when we look at things day to day. I hope everyone is making the best of those days, nights, hours, minutes & seconds.

Enjoy the serenity that surrounds you; it's there, you just have to take a deep breath & relax.
Peace
